CONFIRMATION PREPARATION (GRADE 9)

Confirmation class will be held from 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM.  Confirmation classes will meet in the Dominic Savio room in the church basement unless otherwise noted. Confirmation students may enroll in Senior High Youth Ministry at NO extra charge.

Sacramental Policy: Before a child receives any of the sacraments (Reconciliation, First Communion or Confirmation), he or she must attend religious education class the year prior to the sacramental program. Eighth grade students may miss no more than 5 classes to be eligible to enroll in Confirmation class the next year.  This is very important to ensure that children are well prepared and eligible to receive the sacraments. New parishioners will need to provide attendance records for the CCD program they attended prior to coming to Blessed Sacrament. Weekly Mass attendance is also required.

Attendance is mandatory for Confirmation students. This includes the Faith Sharing retreat with at least one catholic parent (which includes an orientation meeting), an Entrance Rite, a Commitment Rite, an all-day Confirmation retreat, holy hours and the Confirmation practice. Additional components include completing 20 hours of service work distributed among Church, Community and Prayer, writing a 1-2 page paper about your Confirmation namesake, selecting an appropriate sponsor, and writing a letter to Father Buckles expressing the desire for the sacrament of Confirmation.  The ultimate decision to accept or reject Confirmation is left to the individual candidate.
